i want to add a background on my myspace page, and i can't download them cuz it will screw up my computer, is there any websites where i can get free backgrounds and not download them onto my computer?

There are quite a few good sites for this, unfortunately the vast majority of them disable hot-linking, which is the practice of linking from one site to another to use an image.
Chances are you won't find anything to suite your needs that way.
However, if you're worried about viruses and such, you might consider searching Deviantart.com's resources section and StockXchange (www.sxc.hu) for images. Both are completely safe to download from and the second link is a professional stock photography site that has thousands of free images and textures that you can use in a background.
