Too small and the image will be pixelated, too big and it will be cut off at the edges.

when you find a layout that you like, it'll give you a code, and then you paste the code into your "about me" section and you'll have a new background. as for adding codes, most of those can go into your "about me" section as well unless it tells you otherwise.

my process for making an IMAGe background, it should help you in the end :]

find an image on google that you like, i dont know what you are looking for. and then right click it and save the picture. then go to photobucket.com and upload the image there then go to http://www.mygen.co.uk/ and when it asks for a picture url, go to photobucket and copy the URL box right under the picture. and create a layout. my suggestion is that you find an image that would look good tiled OR find an image that would look good centered/ full screened. customized all you want!

Don't know anything about Myspace but I know that the background image can be a jpg file which means you can use a photo imaging program to design your own background.

Once designed you'll need to upload your image - Myspace might have image hosting I don't know. If not then use a free hosting service such Image Shack (http://imageshack.us/) or Photo Bucket (http://photobucket.com/) and link your Myspace page to your uploaded image.

Can't help you with the contact table as I don't know what that is.

General tip - don't use an image from someone else's website as your Myspace background. I have several images that people on Myspace have linked to and as I'm going to redesign my site soon it means all their backgrounds will disappear or change to something completely different (oh, and it's illegal to do that anyway).

Well first select your background. Find a site in which you like the layout. You can put in the search bar my space layouts or backgrounds to search for. There are so many to choose from. When you have the one you like , most of the time simply clicking on the one you like will leave a code underneath the one you like. Copy that code by selecting select all to copy, then go back to your myspace profile page, click edit profile, then go to about me and paste that code, after you have pasted the code click on the save all changes button, then click view my profile to see how it looks with the new background. You can go back and change it the same way. Backspace over where you put your code and click save changes, then put another one in the same way you did before.

You can change your contact table the same way as there are options to have different looks for that.

You can copy and put codes , icons and sayings in your other boxes as well with the same technique.

I'm editing a profile and I have an image I want to use as the background.

I've tried editing the codes to where I want the image to fit across the screen, like a wallpaper on a desktop. Instead, it doesn't do that, and the image just repeats itself all the way down the screen.

First, you'd need to put it on photobucket, or another image sharing site. I'd be glad to do that for you if you don't have an account on any photo sharing site. This is to avoid hot-linking which can land you in some legal trouble on occasion.

Second, you could resize it using photo editing software, such as Gimp.

Also in the code where it says repeat, you want to put none after that.

Save it to your computer. Then, head to http://imageshack.us and upload the image. It will then give you a bunch of boxes with text in them to copy and paste.

Find the one that says "Direct Link to Image" - That's the URL to your image.

If you want it tiled (repeating both left and right and up and down), paste the following code into the About Me section of the Edit Profile page for your myspace:

very intersting... i havent seen anybody else's profile like this. i think you'll just have to try using the Myspace Profile Editor, it's likely that's what's doing it, since Myspace blocks regular code on private profiles. to get to the editor, just go to edit my profile, and in the top right corner there'll be a link.

e-mail me if you need more help tweaking your profile, and/or removing those annoying corner ads

BTW, unfortunately, ^ that guy screwed up with the code, you need the whole link. some messy typos, and plus, he threw in a free advertisement for ya. lol

I'm no expert but I did eventually work out how to do this...First find one you like...they are all over the place! Try Pimp My-space - then copy the code for the one you fancy %26amp; paste it somewere in the "about me" section of your profile....have fun!

I think Tom has a link to a profile editor thing that allows you to pick colors for things and then it gives you the code to put in your edit profile section but I would recommend just getting a pre-made one since they look so much nicer.

If it's basic just some pattern you want, you need a program like Paint, but if you want like one of those flashy animated GIF's you know or those sparkley ones you need something better like fireworks or adobe photoshop. Then in one of those myspace generators just paste in the url that photobucket gives you for you picture.

There are many sites to get the backgrounds from such as Toxxic.net or many others. Just type myspace backgrounds into the search area and it will bring up many. Once you find one you like, copy the code that is given then paste it where you put information about yourself. When you open your file in PS, in a tool list find Magic Wand tool. Then click on the white background and hit del key. It should help. Of course there's more settings Like contigious background, tolerance, etc., but try the default settings.

do you have a premade layout? the easiest way is to find where it says background image (X) or background image ("X") and you just but the html where the x's are.

if you don't have a premade layout, then you can go to this website and create your own and it would have a place that says background image.

TIP: to find "background image" faster through all of the codes and what not, go to "view" on your menu bar and then "find" you can type in "background image" and it would take you where the word appears.
